Sensor Details
What is the MQ-135 Sensor?
The MQ-135 is a chemical sensor used for air quality detection. It is capable of sensing a wide range of harmful gases and pollutants in the surrounding atmosphere.
Gases Detected:
- Ammonia (NH3)
- Nitrogen Oxides (NOx)
- Alcohol
- Benzene
- Smoke
- Carbon Dioxide (CO2)
How does it work?
The sensor uses a semiconductor material (SnO2), whose electrical resistance changes when exposed to the target gases. As the gas concentration increases, the sensor's resistance decreases. A microcontroller (like an Arduino or ESP32) reads this voltage change and converts it into a concentration value (PPM - Parts Per Million) to estimate the air quality level.
Common Applications:
- Home and office air quality monitoring systems.
- Smart air purifiers.
- Environmental pollution monitoring projects.
